ORPDRL Chapter 12

 Episode 12

"Grandpa!"

Startled, Letty rushed forward.

The baby red panda anxiously stomped her little feet while holding onto Brunhardt, who was clutching his clothes near his chest.

"Grandpa, are you okay?"

"Ugh…ugh…"

Despite Letty's worried question, Brunhardt couldn’t immediately respond. The elderly man, barely able to take intermittent breaths, finally collapsed to the floor as if he could no longer endure.

"Is Letty that strong?!"

Letty, looking down at the fallen Brunhardt, pulled at her cheek fur in shock.

'Mom told me not to use it recklessly! Is Letty really this strong?!'

“…Ha. I see, even I find it terrifying."

Letty's ultimate skill was incredibly dangerous, too dangerous.

The legendary Iron Heart of the Empire, Brunhardt, who hadn’t even flinched before an army of thousands, placed his hand on his chest and shook his head.

"I might die from a heart attack. This is a skill that could cause serious trouble if misused."

Brunhardt glanced at Letty, who was looking at him with apologetic, teary eyes, then grabbed his chest again.

"Ugh."

The aftermath of a near heart attack.

"Elder, are you alright?"

Seeing Brunhardt lying down, some staff, who had removed the tapestry, approached in shock.

"Could it be…did this baby make the esteemed elder, Brunhardt, collapse?"

"Yes. With just one technique, I was defeated…"

It was a day when rumors began to spread that a ferocious and formidable daughter-in-law had entered the brutal Grizzly Grand Duchy.

✦ ✦ ✦

Liliane Mihort de Syna.

A maid of the Grizzly Grand Duchy, she belonged to the gray bear clan and was larger than most beastfolk.

‘What if the young lady is scared of me?’

Liliane, who was crazy about anything cute, immediately volunteered when asked for a maid to take care of the baby panda girl. But now, standing in front of the door, she hesitated.

‘Children cry and faint just at the sight of me…’

Although Liliane liked children, the feeling was not mutual.

Her massive frame and fierce appearance, coupled with a large scar from her previous job, made her look even more intimidating.

"Haaa."

Snap.

As she worried and gripped the doorknob tightly, it began to crumble into powder, even though it had been designed to withstand the strength of grizzly beastfolk.

"Ugh!"

"Lilia! Did you break something again?"

Suzanne, the head maid, who happened to pass by, gasped and ran over, hitting Liliane's shoulder.

"Even if you hold it with your fingertips, you’re breaking things! At this rate, there won’t be any doors left in the Grand Duke’s residence!"

Shaking her head in exasperation, Suzanne pushed the intimidated Liliane aside and knocked on Letty's door.

"Miss Letty, this is Head Maid Suzanne. May I come in for a moment?"

"Yes!"

Hearing the energetic response from inside, Suzanne opened the door.

Though she hadn’t yet been assigned a personal maid, Letty was never alone.

“Oh my, how adorable!”

Crunch. Crunch, crunch.

“Goodness… How can someone eating look so blissful and cute?”

Crunch. Crunch, crunch.

Sitting on a round stool in the middle of the room, Letty was enjoying fresh bamboo leaves and shoots. Surrounding her were maids, who had abandoned their tasks to gather in her room, showering her with over-the-top praises.

“Why is everyone here instead of working?”

Suzanne, the head maid, shot them a sharp glare, but Letty secretly welcomed her arrival.

‘Letty might get indigestion at this rate.’

The tender bamboo shoots were indeed delicious, but the maids’ constant encouragement to try different foods was starting to feel uncomfortable.

Letty, feeling like a rare, fascinating creature—although, as a red panda, she technically was—was growing uneasy under their unrelenting gazes. It was hard to focus on eating bamboo leaves while their eyes followed her every move, making her glance around nervously.

“Miss, do you need anything else? You seem a bit uneasy.”

Suzanne, noticing Letty's discomfort, asked gently.

“Oh dear! Miss, is something bothering you?”

“Shall we bring more bamboo shoots? Water? Snacks? Cake?”

The moment Suzanne mentioned Letty's unease, the maids’ attention zeroed in on her.

“Ah, n-no…”

Startled, Letty quickly transformed to hide her expression.

As she lowered her head to escape their relentless stares, her small, round red panda head was fully revealed.

“Ah… So adorable.”

The maids, unable to resist the fluffy sight of her head, made soft groaning noises and clenched their fists.

“This cuteness… It makes me feel like I must do something!”

One maid finally gave in, standing up abruptly and wrapping her arms around a bedpost.

“Should I pull out this post?”

“Hey, stop it! What if the young miss gets hurt?”

Another maid, horrified, tried to stop her colleague.

‘…Pull out a post?’

Hearing the maids’ conversation, Letty noticed the marble pillar dented by the maid’s fingertips and shivered.

While Letty had been strong enough to knock down Brunhardt with a single roar, the maids of the grizzly clan were no pushovers either.

‘I might lose if we fight.’

It was no time to grow overconfident just because she had managed to take down one old man.

‘Letty needs to train.’

While Letty internally calculated her odds against the maids, a slim, curly-haired maid—who had been trying to stop her colleagues from scratching and damaging the furniture—picked Letty up.

“Did you enjoy your meal, young miss?”

“Yes, it was delicious.”

Letty nodded quickly as she swallowed her last bite of bamboo shoot. The maid, who had been gazing at Letty as if lost for words, suddenly opened her mouth in awe.

“Even though you’re also a bear, how can you be so different from us? I just want to gobble you up, bite after bite!”

‘What! She wants to eat Letty?’

Being omnivorous, it wouldn’t have been unusual for a bear to eat a red panda. Upon hearing the maid’s murmuring, Letty instinctively fluffed up her tail.

“Rawr!”

Raising both arms high and baring her sharp fangs, Letty attempted to look fierce. The curly-haired maid, with a mesmerizing tear mole under her eye, panicked and began stomping her feet in disarray.

“Ahh! Someone, please take the young miss from me!”

At her urgent plea, another maid quickly took Letty into her arms.

Thud!

The curly-haired maid collapsed forward, clutching her chest as if waiting for this moment.

‘Oh no. Grandpa told me not to use that skill recklessly.’

Frightened, Letty had activated her skill reflexively. Panicked, she flailed her arms and legs, trying to approach the fallen maid.

“M-maid sister, I’m sorry.”

Whimper.

After finally reaching the floor, Letty gently patted the back of the maid’s head. The maid, trembling as though struck by lightning, slowly turned her head.

“Soft… so soft… sniff.”

Fluffy and squishy!

Dolores, who had volunteered to be Letty's personal maid just like Lilia, raised her trembling hands and held Letty's cheeks.

“This cuteness is overwhelming. If the young miss gives me a kiss, I might survive…”

‘A k-kiss?!’

Mom said kisses were only for her!

The introverted Letty gasped and backed away from Dolores’s bold request. Glancing nervously around the room, the baby red panda eventually chose the only maid who hadn’t approached her—Lilia—and hid behind her legs.

“Gasp!”

Crash!

In doing so, Lilia accidentally tore off the door that the head maid Suzanne had worked hard to protect.

ORPDRL Chapter 01

Episode 1 The day when Letty's mother left her was unusually windy. The sound of the wind shaking the wooden window bars made Letty hunch her small shoulders. “Letty, just wait here for ten nights. Mommy will be back soon.” Letty's mother bent down toward the uneasy child in someone else’s arms. "Where are you going…?" Letty cautiously asked, meeting her mother’s eyes. Her sharp ears drooped as her mother softly patted her small forehead and kissed her. "My good, sweet Letty." She felt sorry for her daughter. Her heart ached for such an obedient child who didn’t even cry or throw a tantrum like other children, begging her not to go. But the mother bit her lips, determined not to show her sorrow. "To live happily with Letty, there’s something Mommy absolutely has to find." She had to complete her task. To protect her precious daughter—so dear that even seeing her in pain hurt like nothing else—she was willing to do anything. “My beautiful daughter...

TDIMEH Chapter 01

  1. Three Years After Divorce & One Week Living on a Deserted Island They say even a rich family can last for three years after going bankrupt? "Who came up with such nonsense?" Se-ah grimaced as she got up from an old, sagging spring bed, filling a chipped glass with water and drinking it in one gulp. The water, tasting as dull as her current mood, felt like it was sliding reluctantly down her throat. Not long after her marriage to Junhyuk, Se-ah's family had gone bankrupt in less than three months, let alone three years. Memories of being chased by shareholders holding what had become worthless stocks haunted her dreams, robbing her of restful sleep. How much longer would she continue to dream such things? Sighing deeply, she shook out her damp pajamas, drenched in cold sweat. It had been three years since she had arrived in the Philippines, using up all her remaining assets to search for Director Kim, who had disappeared. Yet, the nightmares from that time still p...

TDIMEH Prologue

Prologue: An Easy Man "Ms. Jin Se-ah, I'm an easy man. Women are always around me." Do Junhyuk, who called himself an easy man, had his face bathed in the tilted glow of the setting sun, gleaming smoothly. His flawless skin, devoid of a single pore, held its own even under the extravagant lighting of a hotel worth millions. The confident man with a leisurely smile seemed unbothered by his own words. If anything, it was the people glancing at him who looked embarrassed. Sitting across from him, Se-ah observed Junhyuk with an intrigued gaze. The 'easy man' part aside, his well-proportioned forehead, deep-set eyes, sharply defined nose, and crimson lips immediately gave her the impression of someone who could easily break a woman's heart. No wonder he was sitting here making excuses on a blind date. His expression and tone of voice made it obvious that he was here against his will, with no intention of hiding that fact. Fully understanding Junhyuk's attempt t...

ORPDRL Chapter 02

Episode 2 "Hey! Why isn't your mom coming? Did she abandon you?" "No! Mom didn't abandon Letty!" "She abandoned you because you're dirty, lazy, and pathetic. You're just a worthless parasite that wastes food." Letty covered her ears at the mocking voice of Lingling. Despite her denial of her mother's abandonment, Lingling refused to believe her. "It's true. Your mom will never come looking for you again." Letty felt wronged. At the same time, she was scared. 'What if Mom really doesn't come for me?' Although Letty firmly believed in her mother's love, the time they promised had long passed. 'What if something bad happened to Mom?' "No! No, no, no!" Startled by the growing doubts creeping into her small heart, Letty screamed. Lingling, apparently annoyed, shoved her hard. Thud. Letty fell backward and bit her lip. "Mom didn't abandon me." She truly didn't. Mom wouldn...

TDIMEH Chapter 02

   2. I Am Not Korean. "Let’s see, is Terminal 1 in this direction?" Se-ah craned her neck to check the signs outside the car window and gently pressed on the brake pedal. As the car slowed down, the blurry scenery outside became clearer.  In the distance, a sign with the number '1' came into view. It had been a while since she last got behind the wheel, so even with the navigation system guiding her, she got lost and circled around the airport twice.  With four terminals, including some recently constructed, staying alert was crucial to avoid veering off course even within the airport. Fortunately, this time she found the correct way. The short-term parking lot was right in front of the terminal, so parking was quick. After parking her car slightly crooked in an empty spot, Se-ah grabbed the placard her boss had written and hurried toward the arrival gate. Looking at the clock on the wall, she realized it had already been 20 minutes since the plane landed. It was ab...

ORPDRL Chapter 04

Episode 4 The fairy began throwing books haphazardly and growling menacingly at Lingling. Startled, Letty perked up her ears, but she couldn’t understand most of the foul words spilling from the adorable fairy's mouth. Something about intestines, something about pulling out guts and using them as a jump rope. In summary, the fairy boasted about using Lingling's body to prepare meals, which caused Lingling to shrink her neck into her shoulders. "Wha-what is this... Mom..." "Why are you suddenly calling for your mom? Scared?" The fairy mocked Lingling, who flinched and retreated. Lingling, buried under the pile of books, yelled at Letty. "Hey! Aren’t you going to get rid of this bug right now?" "What? A bug?! You’ve got some nerve, don’t you?" "Eek! What even is this fairy?!" It’s hitting me! Not even my mom hits me! Lingling raised her voice in indignation but quickly lost her nerve and looked away when the fairy scowled fierce...

ORPDRL Chapter 03

Episode 3 “The content of the book isn’t anything special. It’s about the baby panda daughter-in-law, Tierra, who marries into the Grizzly family, saves the family, saves the world, and just totally dominates everything…” The fairy, who had an unexpectedly husky voice contrary to its delicate appearance that seemed to survive on dew alone, quickly summarized the contents of Panda Daughter-in-law. Its pulled out a cigar as big as itself, lit it, and exhaled smoke with a sigh. “I assume you’re familiar with the Five Great Families of Solaris?” “Yes.” The fairy's question made Letty's eyes sparkle as she nodded enthusiastically. Solaris was home to five prestigious families that led the empire. They were collectively referred to as The Grandees of Solaris and were so renowned that even young Letty was well aware of them. “Among those families, there’s one that never engages in external activities.” “I know! It’s the Grizzly Grand Duke Family.” According to rumors, they were a fe...

TDIMEH Chapter 03

    3. The Mysterious Woman Why is his English pronunciation so good, too? Even in this situation, his low-pitched voice stuck to her ears like earplugs. Now that he was thirty-three, Junhyuk had become more mature in appearance and voice compared to three years ago when he was thirty. Se-ah, who had been standing blankly, only got into the car like a defeated soldier being dragged as a prisoner after seeing his brow furrow slightly. Even though she had fastened her seatbelt diagonally across her shoulder and waist, she felt as if her neck was being choked. It must be my imagination. She felt that if she turned her head even a little, her identity would be revealed. Like someone who had just arrived at a driving school for lessons, Se-ah’s gaze didn’t move an inch from straight ahead. Her posture was so perfect that it looked like it could be used on a poster for the Road Traffic Authority. It was only natural. Do Junhyuk, sitting next to her, was much scarier than a driving i...

ORPDRL Chapter 10

Episode 10 Letty’s bold statement cast a suffocating silence over an already quiet household. "…Fine." It was not Letty, who declared passionately to give her the son, nor Brunhardt, who struggled to hold back laughter, that broke the oppressive silence. "Take him, if you want." At Grisys's dry response, Lorik gasped and held his forehead in shock. "What do you mean, 'take him'? Your Grace, have you lost your mind?!" To hand over the heir to a random girl asking for him out of the blue—what kind of absurdity was this? "She asked for him. It’s a bother…" Grisys found his son bothersome. Specifically, he found it tedious to fend off the endless marriage proposals pouring in for Mireil—though most were managed by Lorik, some required Grisys's input as the head of the household. "But that doesn't mean you can just hand the heir over to a stranger!" Lorik raised his voice in frustration at Grisys's muttered reply. ...
